Valerie Battle Kienzle is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and a University of Missouri School of Journalism graduate. She spent the last 40-plus years in various communications- and writing-related positions. A lifelong history enthusiast, she has authored four books about St. Louis; three about St. Charles; one about Columbia, Missouri, and one about the Lake of the Ozarks. Her membership in several history-based organizations allows her to continue learning about the past. She enjoys spending time outdoors and seeing the world on foot. She has written six books for Reedy Press.
